Country Life: A Poem

I've had chickens on the brain lately and part of that comes from a funny Youtube video I saw that I'll post below and some of it comes from playing Castleville on Facebook, where I'm constantly feeding pixelated livestock. This morning the radio was playing "Good Morning America by Arlo Guthie (City of New Orleans)." Dedicated to AHni, whose chicken video makes me laugh every time.

But this chicken poem popped into my mind as I was eating breakfast today.

I WANT THE COUNTRY LIFE

I want a yard full of chickens

and a goat or two on the side

And some wiggly piggies in a pen

How can a great big city girl have such a country girl inside?

I want to ride on a tractor

And plant wheat and corn in a row

And make a funny scarecrow

To watch the crows come and go
