Quicksilver
Whisper to me like quicksilver
Changing and being changed with every touch
Splitting into little silvery beads
Then with a wiggle and a glisten
Becoming one big pool of quicksilver again.
I never knew you were poisonous in those days
We were encouraged to play with you in the science class
But like so many things that were innocent when we were young
You are now considered toxic
But I still love youbw photo
Like quicksilver...love the analogy. I need to go back to writing shorter peices packed with meaning and metaphors. You've inspired me (smile).
Yes, I also like the anlogy presented here, I pictured the mercury just slipping around.....good use of metaphors.

Great poem. I suspected that mercury and quicksilver are one and the same, but I had to look it up to be sure.
