Poetry: Spices

By Poetic Muse

Tasty

I had a friend that worked at a spice factory. She used to tell people she was one of the Spice Girls. I think she would have liked this poem.

SPICES

Poems are like spices

What appeals to one person's senses may not appeal to another

Some like really spicy sonnets

Others like a slow simmering sestina

Some like flamboyant flavors

Others like tried and true recipes with no surprises

They would rather have sweet than spicy

Some like traditional flavors

Like haiku and tanka

And for those exotic tastes there are diamantes

And for the naughty there are limericks

Surely something for everyone in this buffet of words

Free verse anyone? All you can eat?
