Stars (poetry)
50Wink
Sometimes when my personal problems seem so complex, and I'm overwhelmed by all the hatred spewed out by the human race, I need to step away from it all. I need to look up at the stars and realize I am but a flash from a sparkler or the wink of an eye.
The Stars
Sometimes I have to go off into the dark world
And stand under the canopy of stars
To remind myself of how infinitesimally small I am
Compared to the universe
I have to drive far from the city
And stand in the desert to do that
Far away from light pollution
From street lights and billboards and baseball stadiums and malls
And then stand there or lay on a sleeping bag
And think that by the time the light from this star or that star reached my eyes
The star is already dead and gone
Even stars have a finite time span
The Death of a Star

Beautiful poem, yes very true every one in this universe are finite, they have to do their job and leave the world for other new thing to take place.
Lovely poem! I live in a town now, but I previously rented a cottage on a farm for some time. Every night I would go outside and look up at all of the stars. It does not have the same impact living in even a small town like mine.
Voting this up.
I totally dig the stars in the desert sky. It's like nowhere else on Earth. How lucky you are to be able to just drive there. I have to take a seven hour plane trip from Philly to get a desert fix. Cool stuff here! Glad I stopped by. All the best,
Steele

As a child I remember watching stars. Your poem is beautiful.
