Poetry is a family event.

I think Halloween is a great time to gather family around and read them poetry. This poem is not too scary so is good for the little ones. You could even have each child read one stanza. Or they can write their own spooky poetry to share.

Monsters On Main Street

Carved pumpkins at the door

Shining in the dark once more

Little monsters ring the bell

Wanting candy to fill their pail

~

Plenty of angels and witches too

Bobbing for apples and monster stew

Pretty ballerinas and ghosties galore

Lots of cute munchkins to adore

~

Haunted houses pop up here and there

Ready to frighten, ready to scare

Halloween carnivals abound

In every city and every town

~

Tummies filled with sugar march on home

After near and far they did roam

Candy inspeciton by mom and dad

Tonight's haul wasn't half bad

~

Little teeth to brush as bedtime is near

Costumes tucked away for another year

Poor teachers on the next morning though

Plenty of cranky monsters in every row
